Marrubiu

Terre di Ossidiana

The winery Viticola Terre di Ossidiana, was founded 20 years ago in Marrubiu, in Campidano di Oristano, one of the most fertile regions of Sardinia.

The land includes a portion of Mt. Arci and is directly adjacent to the slopes of the mountain, where the 40 hectares of vineyards are located.

Terre di Ossidiana's business choices are based on respect for the environment and the agroecosystem. For example, the winery decided to implement sustainable agriculture, using as few chemicals and mechanical processing as possible. In addition, through the use of green manure you want to increase the amount of organic matter

The name Terre di Ossidiana was chosen based on Marrubiu's longstanding connection with Obsidian, referred to as the black gold of the Mediterranean.

Obsidian is a volcanic rock, a type of natural glass, the formation of which is due to the rapid cooling of silica-rich lava, which fails to crystallize and instead takes on an amorphous form.

The contribution this glass makes to the winery is the volcanic soil characterized by obsidian fragments.

The soil on which the vine grows is essential to the sensory aspects of wine, such as color, aroma development and taste qualities.

Volcanic soils of volcanic nature are perfect for growing vines due to their exceptional mineral richness and high permeability.

All this results in very fresh, drinkable wines with a balanced taste.
