Granadu is a Sardinian still red wine Cannonau di Sardegna DOC , made from 90% Cannonau and other indigenous grapes of the territory, produced in Sardinia by Tenute Smeralda in Donori.
Cannonau grapes are grown in vineyards 20 years old on sandy calcareous soil. The rows face north/south at an altitude of 160 meters above sea level with a density of 5000 plants/Ha and a yield of 80/90 q/Ha.
Harvesting is done entirely by hand usually during late September, early October.
In the winery, the grape maceration process takes place for about 10-15 days at a controlled temperature. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in steel.
Sapienti Isola dei Nuraghi IGT ages sixteen months in French oak barriques and at least another twelve months in bottle. The wine ages in steel tanks.
Granadu is a Cannonau di Sardegna DOC with a brilliant ruby red color that evolves into garnet.
Intense scents and aromas of wild berries are perceived on the nose, which with the passage of time in the bottle evolve into aromas reminiscent of the Mediterranean scrub and spices of Sardinia.
In the mouth it is a warm, soft, velvety and persistent wine.
Serve with cured meats, fresh and semi-mature cheeses, pasta dishes and dry meats.
It is recommended to be tasted at a temperature of 15-18 °C.
