The Muscazega Estate was born in Luras small village in the province of Sassari in the historical subregion of Gallura in the northeast of Sardinia.
That of Laura Carmina (founder of Tenuta Muscazega), a Roman painter in love with Sardinia, is a tribute to this granite land of haunting beauty.
In 2006, taking over its management with great passion, Laura renovated the estate, turning it into a winery.
Here the Nebbiolo vines imported from Piedmont about 200 years ago have found the ideal soil to express their unique characteristics, earning them the IGT appellation. Vermentino Superiore D.O.C.G., universally recognized as Sardinia's purest and most original white wine, also finds its chosen land here.
It is here, in the heart of Gallura, in northeastern Sardinia, between the municipalities of Luras, Nuchis and Tempio Pa sania that the historic estate of "MUSCAZEGA" - "blind fly" in Sardinian - is located.
Spread over about 40 hectares, the Muscazega Estate is surrounded by the Minnisio and San Paolo streams crossed by a charming Roman bridge "Ponte Nughes."
Set in lush natural surroundings, with an ancient Stazzu Gallurese from the early 19th century serving as the manor building at its center, the estate now produces Nebbiolo I.G.T. and Vermentino Superiore D.O.C.G. wines, all strictly in purity.
