Estrù wine is a pure Carignano with a fruity and lively character, made from grapes from vineyards in the south-west of Sardinia, produced by the Siddùra winery in Luogosanto.

The soils are clayey-sandy in nature, with an altitude of 250 metres above sea level. The yield per hectare is 70 quintals and the vineyards are espalier trained, with a density of 5000 plants per hectare.

In this hot-arid climate zone, influenced by sea breezes, Carignano has found its ideal terroir on poor, sandy soils. The ripe, healthy grapes are harvested in the first and second ten days of September.

Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled steel vats, with a medium-long maceration of the skins. The wine then completed maturation on fine lees before bottling in spring-summer.

The colour is a brilliant ruby red. The nose expresses fresh, fruity aromas of blackberries and blueberries, with spicy notes of white pepper and nuances of liquorice.

The palate denotes a distinct fruity and juicy note, enhanced by a lively savouriness and freshness.

A pleasant Carignano, perfect served at 16-18°C paired with starters, first courses, grilled red meats and moderately mature cheeses. It will evolve positively for six years after the harvest.

Estrù represents a genuine and immediate Carignano, capable of conveying all the inspiration contained in this indigenous Sardinian grape variety. A wine that is modern but at the same time tied to tradition, encapsulating the essence of the terroir from which it comes.
