“Corbezzolo Caru Liqueur” by Orgosolo Liquors, crafted by Piera Cadinu, is an artisanal liqueur obtained through a careful selection of hand-picked strawberry tree flowers in the month of October, from the region of Orgosolo in Sardinia, at the foothills of the Supramonte, at an altitude of 850 meters above sea level.
What is Corbezzolo?
The corbezzolo is a plant typical of the Mediterranean scrubland, whose fruits and especially the flowers have been used for centuries in traditional medicine and liqueur-making.
The evergreen shrub known as the corbezzolo is widespread in Southern Europe and in areas facing the Mediterranean Sea. Its branches have a reddish coloration. Under favorable environmental conditions, such as a mild climate and sunny soil, it can reach heights of up to 10 meters.
This shrub species is a characteristic presence of the Mediterranean maquis, the ecosystem that develops in coastal areas around the Mediterranean. The shrub typically grows alongside other plants such as the holm oak.
The flowers of the corbezzolo have a bell-shaped form and are white in color. From the flowers, round-shaped fruits develop, which are initially yellow and then, as they mature, turn into a beautiful red color with a sweet and tangy flavor.
Caru Corbezzolo Liqueur made from flowers has an intense amber color. It will surprise you with hints of bitter honey and floral notes of corbezzolo.
An excellent digestive to be enjoyed neat after a meal, you can also appreciate its lingering flavor when used for mixing both non-alcoholic and alcoholic cocktails.
It is recommended to serve it chilled to enhance its aromas.
