Ortigu is a Sardinian red wine Carignano del Sulcis DOC Riserva, made from pure Carignano grapes produced by Eural Sulcis in Sardinia.
Carignano grapes originate from vineyards trained by spurred cordon on medium-textured, mixed sand and clay soils at sea level, with a yield per hectare of 60 quintals and a planting density of 5600 plants per hectare.
In the winery, after careful maceration with the skins, the wine completes malolactic fermentation and subsequent aging in oak barrels. Fermentation takes place at a temperature 22 °C for a period of 30 days. The wine is bottled in the winter period.
Ortigu Carignano del Sulcis DOC Riserva is a wine with a deep ruby red color, distinguished by olfactory notes reminiscent of small red fruits of the underbrush. Slightly spicy in the finish.
In the mouth a warm and soft Carignano. With good aromatic persistence and harmonious finish.
At the table it goes well with structured dishes, red meats and game.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 18 °C.
Store away from light, at a temperature of 15 °C. Ortigu Carignano del Sulcis DOC Riserva has an evolutionary capacity of 15 years.
“The vine is a plant accustomed to suffering hunger and thirst, which under stressful conditions is able to give the best product to be transformed into wine.” These are the words of one of the masters of Carignano, Dr. Giacomo Tachis.”
Ortigu encapsulates the teachings and foresight of a great winemaker who had seen in Carignano an extraordinary grape capable of cheering, surprising and exciting his diners at the same time.
