Janas Carignano del Sulcis DOC from the winery Eural Sulcis, is a still red wine made from 100% Carignano grapes, produced in Sardinia.
Carignano vineyards are grown at sea level in the Sulcis area of southeastern Sardinia on soil of medium-textured, mixed sand and clay. They are trained by spurred cordon, with a yield of 45 quintals per hectare and a planting density of 4200 plants.
Carignano grapes are harvested by hand, selected, destemmed and macerated for a medium to long period in steel vats in order to extract all the polyphenolic content.
Fermentation lasts for about 20-25 days at a temperature of 25 °C. Subsequent maturation on yeasts.
Janas is a Carignano del Sulcis DOC with a ruby red color. Intense on the nose, marked by olfactory hints reminiscent of small red berries from the underbrush. Slightly spicy finish.
The palate is warm and soft. Wine with good aromatic persistence and harmonious finish.
At the table it perfectly accompanies grilled meats, stewed lamb and semi-aged cheeses.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 18 °C.
“Janas” were said to be the fairies of Sardinian folklore, experts in the use of herbs and ointments, skilled weavers and great cultivators. There are many legends about them, but one thing is certain: they had a strong connection to the land they respected and loved, just as we love and respect it.”
Eural Sulcis’ Carignano Janas has an evolutionary capacity of 12 years.
