Invidia Gallurese is a Sardinian Vermentino di Gallura DOGC still white wine made from pure Vermentino grapes from vineyards in Località San Michele, in the Berchidda countryside in Sardinia, produced by the Consorzio San Michele winery.
Vermentino di Gallura grapes are grown in a typical Mediterranean climate characterised by spring and autumn rains, warm and breezy summers with significant temperature excursions.
The ten-hectare vineyards are cultivated on ‘sandy soil from crumbling granite’, trained on guyot, planting layout: 2.5 x 1.00 metres and equipped with drip irrigation for emergency irrigation.
After the harvest, which is carried out in the traditional manner to preserve the integrity of the grapes, the bunches are brought to the cellar as quickly as possible where the vinification process begins: cryomaceration of the destemmed grapes for 12 to 24 hours. Soft pressing followed by static clarification of the flower must. Fermentation in steel at low temperature (13-15 °C) for 10/15 days, maturation on the lees for 7/8 months and subsequent refinement in the bottle for 2 months.
Invidia Gallurese Vermentino di Gallura DOCG has a straw-yellow colour with greenish tones.
The nose offers a delicate scent of orange blossom and Mediterranean scrub, fruity notes of pineapple and grapefruit.
In the mouth, it is delicate, with a good structure, where a slight softness combined with intense mineral sensations, the result of its savouriness and freshness, make it balanced and elegant.
Pleasantly bitter to further characterise its typicality.
At the table, it is a perfect match for shellfish, molluscs and seafood, medium-matured cheeses and mild pecorino, and cured meats with a full but delicate flavour.
Excellent as an aperitif. It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 8-10 °C.
Invidia Gallurese was first produced in 2013.
