Balente IGT Isola dei Nuraghi by Cantine Carboni of Ortueri in Sardinia is a red wine made from 100% typical grapes of the Mandrolisai area, Cannonau Monica and Bovale.
The grapes come from vines bred to the alberello system, 100 years old, located in the Ortueri area with a yield of 50 quintals per hectare.
After harvesting, which is strictly by hand, the grapes are transferred to the cellar as quickly as possible, destemmed and then vinified in red wine with traditional punching down of the skins and maceration at a controlled temperature of 25-28 °C. Balente is cold bottled and matured in the bottle for about a year.
Cantina Carboni’s Balente IGT Isola dei Nuraghi wine presents itself at the sight ofcompact ruby colour. The nose intrigues with notes reminiscent of jammy fruit, sweet notes of spices and Mediterranean herbs.
On tasting, it is characterised by great power. The considerable alcohol content is well supported by the structure and well-integrated tannins. Persistent finish, with perceptions reminiscent of fruit and spices.
At the table, it is a perfect accompaniment to large earthy dishes, mature cheeses and game.
It is recommended to serve at a temperature of 16-18 °C.
