Margallò is a still red wine Isola dei Nuraghi IGT, produced by the Cantina Ledà di Alghero, made from red grapes typical of the area and vinified separately.
The grapes are grown in vineyards located in the Alghero area on medium-calcareous sandy clay soil, trained to guyot with a planting density of 4,600 vines per hectare and a maximum yield of 70 quintals per hectare.
The vineyards are cultivated in a terroir that is perfect for ripening grapes with a typically Mediterranean climate with mild winters and very hot summers. Rather little rainfall concentrated in the autumn and winter months with frequent breezes.
The grape harvest is carried out strictly by hand. In the cellar, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature with maturation in steel before bottling
Margallò Isola dei Nuraghi IGT has a deep ruby red colour. The nose is floral, fruity, herbaceous, with balsamic notes and a pleasant bitter finish. A hint of black pepper predominates among the spices. All accompanied by delicate herbaceous notes typical of the grape varieties.
Margallò is a perfect accompaniment to savoury dishes in general and specifically to red meat, game and medium to well matured cheeses. We recommend uncorking the bottle an hour before serving to best enjoy the extensive bouquet.
We recommend tasting at a temperature of 18 °C.
The name: Margallò, read Malgagliò is in the Algherese language, of Catalan origin, the dwarf palm, a spontaneous plant in the area where the vineyard is located.
