Cigala is a still red Alghero DOC wine produced by Cantina Ledà, made exclusively from Cagnulari grapes from the Alghero area in Sardinia.
The Cagnulari grapes of Cigala are grown on sandy clay soil with a medium lime content in a perfect terroir with a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and very hot summers. Rather little rainfall concentrated in the autumn and winter months. Frequent breezes.
The vineyards are trained to the guyot system with a planting density of 4600 vines per hectare. Harvesting is done manually with a yield per vine of 70 quintals per hectare.
In the cellar, fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature, followed by maturation in steel before bottling.
Cagnulari Alghero DOC Cigala is ruby red with violet hues. A wine with an intense and persistent aroma – fruity, wild bush fruits and herbs. mediterranean.
In the mouth, it is full, well-structured and enveloping. Long taste-olfactory persistence.
At the table it accompanies both meat and fish dishes. Due to its freshness and not excessive structure, it is perfect with fish dishes where condiments and sauces are present or with oily fish, especially tuna.

The name: Cigala (pronounced Sigara) is, in the Catalan language spoken in Alghero, the Cicada, an insect present everywhere in the area, which during the summer accompanies the ripening of the grapes and the summer feasts with its characteristic song.
